Privacy, in plain words.

Lick of Paint makes and looks after websites for businesses. This page says what we hold about you and why. It is written for the owner of a business, which is who we deal with.

What we hold before you ask us anything

When we make a preview for a business, we use what the business itself has published: its name, the address and hours on its listing on Google or its website, the email address it shows the public, and the photos and words on its own site or Facebook page. We keep the business's name, the published email address and a record of where and when we found it, so we can honour a request to stop and never write twice. We don't buy lists, harvest addresses or sell anything we hold.

What we hold once you're a customer

What you give us on the short form after you start: your name, the business details, your hours and photos, and the web address you want. Payments are taken by our card payment provider; we never see your card number or keep your card details. Your web address is yours. If you use Glowing, your send-it page keeps only a scrambled one-way code of each customer mobile your team types in, so nobody is asked twice and a "stop" counts for everyone; the number itself is never kept.

Emails from us

Every email we send says who it is from and how to stop. Reply "stop" to any of them, or email hello@lickofpaint.au, and we remove the address shortly and never write again.

How we measure what works

We count visits to our pages ourselves, without cookies and without any outside service. We note which page was opened, for how long, how far down it was read and which of our buttons were pressed, with the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer): nothing that names you or recognises you on your next visit, and the notes are deleted after 400 days. A private preview link is yours alone, so we can see whether it was opened; for 45 days we also keep the network address it was opened from, only to tell automatic email checkers apart from people. Nothing else about you is tracked.

Asking, correcting or deleting

Email hello@lickofpaint.au and we will tell you what we hold, correct it, or delete it, usually the same week. Lick of Paint is a small Australian business; where the Privacy Act's principles apply to us we follow them, and where they don't we follow them anyway.
